Description

Gretsch G5022CE Rancher Acoustic Electric Guitar Features:

  • 6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar with Jumbo Body
  • Fishman Electronics – Savannah Sunset
  • Flame Maple Back and Sides
Adam’s Take

Fans of honkey tonk 1950’s style guitars will love the Gretsch G5022CE Rancher Acoustic Electric Guitar.

The solid spruce and maple jumbo body guitar has a triangular sound hole the lends to the sound of the throwback guitar.  The tone is old school yet powerful and full which makes it a solid performance guitar.

The mohagany neck and rosewood fretboard are nice work get your fingers on and you can enjoy it at a fraction of the cost of the vintage 6022 Rancher that this design is derived from.

The electronics are also solid on this guitar which makes it great for plugging in which some similar priced guitars struggle with.

+ Positives:
  • Gretsch designed a beautiful guitar and nails the 1950's throwback style they are going for
  • The fretboard is a joy to work around and the quality of the build is nice
- Negatives:
  • It's a big guitar that isn't necessarily worth lugging around to live concerts unless you really want that honkey tonk style
  • It does not have a versatile tone. You Gotta want that honkey tonk vibe if you are going to get this guitar
