Bottom Line – Of the smaller size guitars in this price range, this guitar is very small but well built and ideal for children because it’s easy to play and made at a higher quality than other lesser brands attempts at guitars for kids.  For the guitarist looking to learn to play on a starter guitar, this yamaha guitar has a low price and is a better option than the fg junior dreadnought acoustic guitar.

Adam’s Take

If you are looking for a small guitar that is well built and ideal for young children this is a great affordable option and is much nicer that the small toy quality guitars that people try to pass off for children of lesser brands.

The small size of the upper frets and the extremely small size makes it better for children than for musicians looking for a travel guitar, although it is so small that it is great for traveling if you don’t have a lot of room.

The guitar holds its tune very well which is nice for beginners, and anyone else for that matter and the spruce top and rosewood fingerboard bring some extra quality to this very affordable guitar.

+ Positives:
  • The build of this guitar far outweighs the cost in value
  • The size of the guitar makes it an ideal guitar for children
  • The rosewood fretboard is easy to play and a definite perk for a guitar at this price point
- Negatives:
  • This is a smaller guitar than the 3/4 size guitar it is advertised to be
  • The upper frets are fairly small which creates a challenge for adults that want this for a travel guitar
